Quick gift card holder

GJA has 3 ladies who share helping with typing financial statements (and other things ) during the year, so decided to get them gift cards.  Two of them like coffee and one is crafty - so he had me get her a gift card from Michaels.

Well, both coffee places had little holders for the cards, but Michael's did not...so he whined about it...with 30 minutes before I was to go out for supper with friends...and he needed it in the morning...SO...I ran to find my gypsy to see if I had the gift card holder that I made a couple of years ago available.  Of course not, I had to re-set my G...so all the files were lost.

I really wanted to go and do my hair and get dressed, so I quickly made one.  I had 2 left over snowflakes from Christmas cards and a bit of embossed paper (that I had inked) and decided to use those.  I cut a rectangle out of white paper, folded it around the GC, glued all but 1 side down...then covered it in stamped snowflakes, slapped on the bit of embossed paper, threw the snowflakes in the xyron, covered them in glitter and slapped the holder together.

GJA thought it was fancy that I had a snowflake glued onto the GC so she could use that to pull out the GC from the holder...its pretty cute, if I do say so myself.

Scrapbook Layout - 2009 Playhouse

PJ was crazy about little playhouses - whenever we'd go near a TRU we'd spend far too much time watching him open/close all the doors and windows of all the houses on display.  My brother sent him $ for his birthday and we topped it up got got him his own little house.

The background papers were all from cricut imagine more. House is from Handyman, heart is Lacy Labels, and the Font is from Nursery Rhyme 

Did YOU notice the title is wrong! LOL!  I forgot to re-take the photo after noticing (and fixing) this error).  OOPS!

Scrapbook Layout - 2009 Look at Me

PJ rarely stood in his crib and never tried to take his PJs off - During his nap I could hear him singing away, so I went in to get him out and there he was standing there like this.  I couldn't resist making a little guy to look like him.  

So get ready for it - I used my imagine WITH CCR!  

The background papers are all from my Imagine More Cartridge.  The little guy is from paper doll and I believe the crib is too.  I think the lettering is from Billionaire - but its hard to know because when I opened up the CCR file, the stupid CCR program loaded up a blank page (rather than everything that was saved on there) and because its stupidly setup to auto-save, I've LOST this file...GRRR! 

Yet another reason why I ABHOR CCR!

So, I may have used CCR for this, but I still hate it!  It is so frustrating to work with and now that its poofed 1 of my files, I'm really annoyed.

Cdn Circle gal's on-line challenge

The Canadian circle members decided to have an on-line challenge.  There were 7 separate challenges (2 a day...not sure why they had to be slammed into such a short time frame) and you had until after Cdn Thanksgiving to complete them (which isn't here yet, but whatever).  I typically don't participate in challenges because if it doesn't fit into what I'm working on, then I'm just not interested in going on a different path just to do challenges.  This one was particularly hard to do because it was during September - too many changes and stresses revolving around school to be able to think about crafting (or actually having time TO  craft).

Having said that, I actually DID the 1st challenge - this was because PJ's therapists thought it would be a good idea to have a calendar for him so he can see what's going on during the week...and I thought...heh, I have designer's calendar that I've never used and the teeny-tiny calendar they left me (smaller than 8.5x11) just wasn't going to work!  

SO...here's the challenge:

The challenge is a Halloween Decor Item. It can be a sign, banner, luminary, treat bag, etc. The sky is the limit.

Your project must include the following:
1) At least one Cricut Cut
2) The colour purple

Your project must include one of the following:
1) Glitter
2) Ribbon
3) Use of a cuttlebug folder.

This is "October" and includes a Halloween pumpkin.  I have a few cricut cuts (the main one is the calendar grid)  I have designed ALL of the headers for the months, I just haven't cut them yet.  The background paper and the glitter (on "October") are purple, as are some of the other words on the calendar.

The calendar grid is laminated so I can change the numbers each month.  I have the back covered with magnetic paper.  The days of the week are on its own separate laminated sheet - this was so I could make the grid as large as could be made and still fit in my 8.5x11 laminator.  I was going to laminate the headers and did try, but it hides the nice glitter word - so I made another one - it only needs to be out for 30 day a year, so should be ok without being laminated.

One thing about that magnetic paper is that its really not strong enough.  I had wanted to use it on little pictures to use for event days on the calendar, but it won't stick.  I did find stronger magnets, but I'm not sure I'll continue to use them....we shall see!

Edm Crop - Sept 29 2012

A few of the circle gals (and others) gathered at a LSS to crop.  I was planning on getting there for 10am, but the large boy caused a drama with the small boy and it meant I had to wait for him to settle down before I could leave - and STILL the poor little guy was very upset and crying because I was leaving - I was NOT amused at all!  Why must I always be left feeling horrible when I get a rare (and I do mean extremely RARE) time away from the routine....each and every time!  I swear, its a guilt trip Every.Single.Time!

Anyway, I digress....once I finally got there, there were no parking stalls - great...but since it was Saturday, we could park in the other business's stalls - PHEW!  After we got the salesclerk to approve moving a table over so I'd have somewhere to work, then we DID start to work on our projects.  Alice (dugspookie), Teresa (ladybugT) and Michelle were already there.  A class was underway in the same room so it was quite loud in there...until they left at 1ish.  We immediately packed up our stuff and MOVED over to where there were larger tables - turned on the music and sat down to work on our projects - YES - we actually worked on projects.

By this time, we were starving, so we got some Wendy's to go and went back to have our lunch.  Just as we were finishing eating, Sherri (sherrihend180) arrived.  Poor thing is working on a conversion of their company's software and had to work that morning - they go live on Monday and I wish her the best of luck - been there, done that 2x and it was HELL (thousands of OT hours before and AFTER go-live date)  I hope she gets paid OT (or time off in lieu)...because I didn't!

I got a couple of layouts done,  Alice was working on her 50 bears, Sherri made a cute card for her DH, Teresa & Michelle whipped off I don't know how many cards and envelopes - work was accomplished by ALL!  AND...I managed to escape being with the enablers with only spending $10 (not including lunch) - so the enabling crew must have had a off-day! ;)

We had some munchies and giggles and it was a great day!
