Scrapbook Layout - 2008 Yumm Coffee

PJ decided that he wanted to pretend to drink coffee like Dad does - so he grabbed GJA's empty cup and proceeded to "drink" coffee.  Now he loves to have his OWN Starbucks drink - apple juice!  Did you know that they'll give you an 8 ounce cup of juice (basically, their "tall") for $1 - ask for a child's apple juice!  He thinks he's getting a treat!

I think the font is from Plantin and the cup I found on the internet - it was a free cut-file someone made using George.  I'm really terrible at inking, but I attempted it on this cup - it needed it because it was too white.  I think its an OK job for a beginner inker.

The fridge has landed

PHEW!  That's done!

GJA got the milk out of the fridge for breakfast and said...the fridge gave us one final gift - it totally froze pretty much everything that was still in there...nice. 

After the delivery guys called with our 3 hr window (and they said, we were earlier on the list), we managed to pull out the fridge and vacuum off the floor and were able to get the dripped out gunk off the floor too - it wasn't as nasty back there as we had thought it might be.

They had no problem getting the old fridge out - and the fridge didn't leave without giving us the finger as it left the house....stupid thing left a trail of dripping water and gunk all along the way out the front door.  I guess we shouldn't have been surprised...the roof was always covered with condensation/and crap...once it was moved around, it would have made the drips release and come dripping out.

Getting the new fridge in was a little more involved because it was just a wee bit too big to get in the front door.  They wanted to take off the handles (that was what was making it too big) but they couldn't find the tool they needed...which I was glad of...I didn't want anything to affect the doors (handles or doors) because I wanted to make sure the door seal was good (and not hampered with).  They decided to take the front door off of its hinge and walked it in.

It just barely fits in its spot...but it was the perfect size - with 1/2 inch all around it for circulation...there was easily over an inch (or 2) all around the old fridge.  It was plugged in and we could hear (barely) a small hummm....ahhhh...so quiet!  I was dying to get the stuff back in the fridge...but because it takes awhile to cool down, we only put in the stuff that wouldn't fit in our garage fridge.

PJ loves the doors - which is annoying because all he wants to do is open/close them all day.  Hopefully the novelty will wear off soon.  He also loves that if he leaves the door open too long, it beeps.  Later in the afternoon, we put our stuff in...and it looks like a university student's fridge - empty!  HA HA. I was making sure we didn't have alot to deal with for the change - good thing I did because we had run out of room to store everything while waiting for the switch-a-roo.  Having the milk jugs in the doors leaves us so much room in the fridge area - love that!  The best part is when you open the fridge part, a choir of angels sings... "LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA".

GJA didn't think there was enough room for beer - hello - the fridge is empty...there currently is a ton of room for stupid beer.  The only annoying thing (so far) is that unless we take a shelf down, there isn't a space tall enough to put in an open wine bottle - oh well, I guess there will be no left over wine - it all must be consumed the day its opened...drats. ;)

Scrapbook Layout - 2008 Christmas Photo Shoot

This particular year PJ liked to pull down the hat because I think I must have made a face every time....he's such a tease.

The title was made using the font in Winter Woodland - I just love it for Christmas stuff!

Almost ready for the new fridge

We emptied the fridge except for produce and milk (that we can just take out when the new one arrives).  Tomorrow we're going to move the old one out from the wall so we can clean the floor underneath it.  It looks like there's something dark brown that's accumulated there...ick...there certainly wasn't anything oozing out the door onto the floor...so what is this and where did it come from...ick!

The waiting is almost over....darn thing didn't close since we took possession of the house in Dec 2001!  This new one better not be a lemon!

Two more sleeps

PHEW...2 more sleeps until the fridge arrives - WOO HOO!

Here's what the door on our current fridges does after about 5 minute after being shut:

This is what the roof on the inside of the fridge looks like - no matter how often you try to wipe the water off (and you get totally drenched doing it) - it starts accumulating immediately.  We call it "strange fridge water" because we aren't sure if its just condensation or if its condensation PLUS something oozing from the fridge itself...ICK!

Gee - I had forgotten that one of the lights had burned out a month ago until I saw this photo that I took today...duh.

Anyway - the new fridge can't get here fast enough - and I sure hope it isn't a lemon like this one!

PJ's hair was fairly curly and I like to keep it long so that I could enjoy the extra body and curls (that I don't have).

Scrapbook Layout - 2008 Happy Halloween

Here's a Halloween page, which includes photos from  a Halloween party and Halloween night.

As is usual, PJ didn't want to put on his costume, but once it was on, he was ok.  He seemed to enjoy my witches hat the most - wish I could get a hat on him when he needs it (like when its sunny or snowing!)

The title was from Happy Hauntings cartridge and the little monsters were from Paper Doll Dress-up cartridge.  I used peachy keen stamps for the faces, but my dolls were a wee bit too small for them...oh well, live and learn.  I really enjoyed making the little monsters with their cute costumes.

New Fridge - on its way!

WOO HOO...We had an Amana fridge since we bought the house in 2001.  It worked fine for awhile, but not alot of room for big 4 ltr jugs of milk if you want anything else in the fridge.

The door never really fully closed from day 1 and for about 1 year (maybe more) the door is rarely closed.  It resulted in strange condensation on the roof in the fridge area that dripped all over everything.  Any time you'd bring something out of the fridge, a huge puddle of water would come out with it all over the floor...PAIN IN THE ASS!

Just this week, I noticed that the stuff in the freezer was having huge frost and ice sticking out everywhere, so I knew it wasn't good.  GJA noticed that the milk wasn't as cold this week as it had been.  We'd been meaning to look for something but GJA's been working weekends since early January so we haven't had a chance to go look.  Thankfully its a long weekend and we got in and found a nice LG fridge...WOO HOO!  We purchased it and it'll be coming next Saturday!  The cubit ft inside is a bit larger than what we currently have (and will fill out more of the space available for the fridge), so I hope that will mean MORE ROOM inside for stuff!

Its got two drawers for the freezer.  I know that my parents hated the one they had with the freezer on the bottom, but I'm going to give it a try.  The only immediate problem is keeping PJ out of it!

Scrapbook Layout - 2008 Escape & What's this

Here are a couple more pages - PJ figured out how to un-lock the deadbolt and tried to escape....I had to put a lock up higher so he couldn't get out.

HA HA - photoshopping Cinderella

These comparative photos started showing up on the internet a week, or so, after the royal wedding - they are pretty funny!

The problem with it is that Cinderella had blonde hair and Prince Charming had a white coat on - so they've been tampered with.

There also was a change in the step sisters too.

Its still darn funny though!

Here's a scrapbook page of PJ's 2nd birthday.  He was really enjoying everyone taking his photo - which was very handy (and wish he would cooperate like this now).

Scrapbook Layout - 2008 I love my soother

PJ loved his soother and it was with him all the time (until he started chewing off chunks of it).  He actually only needed it for sleeping and when he was anxious.  If he was busy doing something, he forgot about it...but if he saw it (or some other kid had one) then he wanted his!

This Scrapbook page uses Plantin Schoolbook cartridge (I think, I can't remember and I've taken the file off of my gypsy, so I can't even look to see what it was).

Cricut Blog?

OK, so, now there's a cricut blog (which I presume is separate from the cricut circle blog).  Its supposed to go live tomorrow...hmmm.

National Scrapbooking Day - circut circle blog giveaway

On the Cricut Circle Blog, they posted a giveaway challenge for National Scrapbooking Day.  Here are the requirements:

Take a quick snapshot of you crafting in your scrap space . . . it doesn’t matter if you scrapbook on the floor, at the dining room table, or in a scrapbook room . . . we want to see! 

Here are some photos of my tiny area for scrapbooking stuff - its messy...my excuse is because its tiny and I share it with the last 2 years of income taxes.  

See what I mean about tiny - the table where the 2 scrapbook pages are is about all the work-space I have.  There is a wee bit of space in the front of the imagine...but really, its just big enough for the mats - so when I'm cutting something from the machine, its not really useable.  I actually rarely work on my scrapbooks in here because of the lack of space.  I pre-design layouts with embellishments and store them for when I have time to scrapbook - so I'm usually in here cutting images and making the pre-designed pages- AND hanging out at the cricut circle website.

Up from here, are alot of photos waiting to be worked on - there are alot more...just ran out of room on the shelves for them.  I also have my stash of 12x12 white paper here

Next to that is alot of my embellishments, glue, pop-dots, ribbon - well, I guess, basic supplies.  I have more embellishments elsewhere. There are also some completed albums here - I'm out of room for storing them too.

Beside this is some of my stash of card stock - I can't help myself with card stock!

Below that is some more embellishments - I have them stored in un-used baby-wipe containers.

I also have 2 jetmax drawers - this is where my patterned paper is - I keep coordinating card stock with each patterned paper section - just easier than trying to reach OVER the tax piles to get to my other card stock.

Scrapbook Layout - 2008 Fun at the YMCA

Here's a layout from 2008.  We met up with some friends to play at the indoor playground at our local YMCA.  All the kids (2 year olds) had a fabulous time.

Cartridges used are Locker Talk (for the slides) and I "think" its George for the title - its been awhile since I did this page.

Thankfully, PJ has stopped pulling hair - so far - things could change ;)

Scrapbook Layout - 2008 Winter Fun

I spent some time (during Survivor) taking photos of some of my 2008 scrapbook pages....here's another one.

This is in our backyard in Feb 2008.  GJA walked into the middle of the yard and plopped PJ in the middle of the snow - he wasn't impressed.  The snow was above his knees, so he had no clue how to walk and save himself...but at least it made it easy to get photo of him because he wasn't moving!

I believe the "winter" title is from Beyond Birthdays and the "fun" is from opposites attract.  I also had some cute snowflake brads that I put on (they are plastic).

Its been FOUR years...

How is it possible that my Granny has been gone for FOUR years already.  I miss her so much - there was always so much laughter when she was around - even her phone calls were hilarious.

She was our "Lucy" - if anything strange was going to happen, it would happen to her. 

One Christmas, my brother decided he'd carefully open a walnut, take out all the insides, but in a quarter, carefully seal it up  so you couldn't tell it had been tampered with and place it in the nut-bowl in the hopes that our Granny would pick that walnut.  The only people that ate walnuts where Granny and our parents so the odds were pretty good.  

Magically, after a day or so, we're all in the living room, watching TV and Granny says..."well, you'll never guess".  The only one that knew about the quarter was my brother, so we're all..."no...what's going on?"  She opens her hand to show us this quarter in the middle of the walnut shell.  We're all sitting there stunned as she says..."I picked up this walnut, cracked open the shell and it was sitting in there perfectly"...and she pulled the quarter in and out of the shell to show how perfectly it fit.  Then she said "have you ever heard of such a thing?"   We're saying...oh, you must have just had that quarter in your hand and are pretending you found it in there.  She said,..."no...look how it fits exactly in there,  well, I've seen it all".  

Eventually my brother started laughing and fessed up that he had put the quarter in the nut and explained it all.  She went over and gave him a punch in the arm.  

It all was hilarious...but all these crazy things always happened to her....so there was always funny stories to hear and re-tell.

I miss all the funny stories, Granny.  I miss you!

Happy Mother's Day

Today I woke up with a headache, dealt with 2 melt-downs, listened to crappy jazz music, didn't cook and I  received a silver plated hockey puck plus jazz CD/DVD. PJ did give me lots of kisses and these are always appreciated.

Today was still better than the mother's day I had 6 years ago just 2.5 months after my 1st miscarriage - now, that was a miserable mother's day.  Because I didn't have a "living" baby, I knew that no-one counted me as a mother (except anyone who's suffered through a miscarriage - they know) and I cried most of the day.  I know we went out for supper with my mother that day, but I haven't a clue where we went - I'm sure it was very nice though.

PJ 's 5th birthday party

I don't think I've ever posted birthday photos for PJ before...hmm. Well, here are some from his 5th b-day party.

All the kids played nicely in the bonus room without any supervision - WOW - pretty good for 3, 5-yr olds; 1, 4-yr old & 1, 3-yr old!

 

 

We had chicken fingers, fries and pulled beef on a bun for lunch and then birthday cupcakes.

 

 

PJ got alot of fabulous gifts - thanks everyone!

 

The next day, he enjoyed all the balloons - even if all the helium was gone.
