I'm off to see the Wizard

Yup - going to the Emerald City today - hope there's very little rain!  GJA wonders if we'll be able to find a Starbucks anywhere (ha ha - funny boy)

Chat with ya later !

Scrapbook Layout - 2007 Christmas

As mentioned before, I took alot of photos at Christmas in 2007 - who am I kidding...I take alot of photos EVERY Christmas!   This is actually a 2-page spread - but there were no cuts on the other side, so I didn't take a photo of it.

The title is from Beyond Birthdays (except the 2007, which is probably Plantin)

Scrapbook Layout - 2007 Ready for Christmas

Since PJ was more mobile for Christmas this year, I took alot more photos - so I needed pages for them all (actually, I think I took over a hundred photos - so I'm showing great restraint on the amount of pages I actually did that year).

The title is from Plantin Schoolbook...except for the word Christmas, which is from Christmas Cheer.

Scrapbook Layout - 2007 Happy Holidays

Just before Christmas, all the Mom's in my Mom group got together for a pre-Christmas gathering.  I didn't take my camera but the hostess (Carla) setup a tripod and took a photo of us and one each of our kids and sent it to us in our Christmas card - and I was so pleased to have them ... they needed their own page!

Taste of Edm - 2011

We went to Taste of Edmonton on yesterday  - YUMMY!

We had GJA's mom over to baby-sit PJ and off we went. We were only there for a couple of hours. It was a nice day 27C and thankfully the buildings block most of the sun when we were there around 5 pm.  Since they're re-done Sir Winston Churchill Square, there is alot of places to sit - which is great!

I had my usual Beef Lemongrass Skewer (well, three...or was it four?). I also had bison burger, sweet potato fries and chocolate lava cake.  I had a ton of chocolate dipped strawberries.  YUMMY!

GJA had Bison Burger, Sweet Potato Fries, Steak Sandwich, Saskatoon Berry Scone and Cappuccino Chocolate Shooter Cups.

I didn't rain on us this year...but the storm clouds did fly over us.  Rain started around 9 pm....but we were home by then.

Scrapbook Layout - 2007 PJ & his Sunny Funny Face

Here's yet another layout using Cuttin' Up - but a different FONT - woooo - scarey ;).  I sure wish that all the fonts on this cartridge had shadows - I live for shadows!

Cartridge used is Cuttin' Up

1 week vacation...

So, my passport arrived this week so we can go on vacation to the US.  My parents have offered to stay with PJ for 1 week this summer and BOY and I itching to get out of here.  We haven't had a week vacation since we were in Toronto in 2009 - and I haven't been away from this house since we were in Calgary last summer for 2 nights.

We are planning to go to Seattle...but now that I see there are 3 (that I've found) museums about airplanes, I'm re-thinking my choice.  We were thinking of Vegas or Phoenix...but we were in Phx in 2008 and as much as I love it and know my way around, it would be nice to go somewhere different.  ALSO...it was bloody hot when we were in Phx in Aug 2008 and I don't want to be too hot...hence the kibosh on Vegas (that and GJA will probably go on a guy trip there in Oct).

So, even though it could be colder in Seattle then it is up here in Canada...I'll take my chances with Seattle.

We're booked and ready to fly...except the house needs to be cleaned and we need to pack.

Scrapbook Layout - 2007 Little Hands and Feet

It is impossible now to get photos of PJ's hands and feet because they never are not moving.  Thankfully there was still occasions in 2007 when he would be still enough for me to snap a photo of his wee cute hands and feet.

Baby hands, feet, fingers and toes are so cute!

The font used is from Cuttin' Up.  Can you tell that I only had a few fonts back when I did these pages...its all Cuttin' Up, Opposites Attract and Plantin!

Scrapbook Layout - 2007 Crusing and Moving

I think this was the 1st cartridge I got that had a cursive feel to it.  I did have an impossible time with it prior to the gypsy.  I ended up cutting off some off the ends so that the "Cruising" letters were slightly closer together than it would otherwise be.

The carts used are Plantin Schoolbook (for the &) and Opposites Attract for the other 2 words.  Notice how I lost the dots in the word Cruising...stupid zig-2-way glue...they fell off.

Scrapbook Layout - 2007 Boys & their toys

One thing I find is that alot of the font's shadow is very VERY narrow - and sometimes I'd like it to be a hair wider...just so that you can see the shadow a wee bit more....this page is a good example of that.

I also think that all fonts should have shadows - I have a hard time using fonts that don't have a shadow - drives me nuts...they need shadows!

The cartridge used here for this font is Plantin Schoolbook

Yet another sinus infection

Back in November 2010, I had a post about my longest illness.  Well, this current one isn't longer than that one...since I was sick for over a month before I went to the DR.  This time, its been 2 weeks and it has the same feeling as back in November.  Can't sleep, can't move my head, can't chew or swallow, can't hear - just pain and more pain in my head, behind eyes, my cheek-bones and jaw, my ears and this morning my glands were swollen in my neck - oh yes, and I'm congested and can't breath - SO, I had to bite the bullet and go to the DR.

Everyone was telling me that antibiotics don't do anything - well, I'd like to give them a chance because I can't function like this with PJ running around the house all day.  I can barely keep my head upright...how do I watch him?  Take sleeping pills, a couple of Tylenol, a decongestant and have a good night sleep and you'll feel better in the morning...ah...I've been doing that (and higher dosages...except not sleeping pills...none of those) for 2 weeks....the medication gives no relief whatsoever - because its not a cold anymore.

On this past Sunday, I thought I had a migraine, but it was this darn infection.  I slept most of that day (well, tried to sleep)...but now that felt like a picnic compared to the pain today.  I've taken the evil antibiotics and I hope they work quickly (like I wanted some relief after 10 minutes of taking it)....but alas...4 hrs later...still waiting.

I'm going to do all the advice everyone gave me - saline spray, chicken soup, OJ on and on...but I'm still going to take these antibiotics...we're hoping to go on a flight somewhere and I can't do that if my sinuses are this infected.

This sinus infection has GOT TO GO!

Cricut Circle - year 2

OK, so, its time to renew for the circle and they have an early-bird renewal rate for those that signed up for the circle before Aug 1 2010 - which is fabulous and I totally took advantage of - had to keep my premier charter member status - that was one of the reasons I signed up so early that inaugural year.

The Cricut Circle costs will be as follows:

Yearly Membership $250
Quarterly Membership $70

Includes:  Circle Message board, Circle Blog, Circle Facebook page, ability to attend Circle Crops, four exclusive Circle cartridges for the year....and new perks may be added throughout the year.

___________________

It is nice that the price has gone down because last year it cost $279 for the year and $80 for a quarterly membership.

Scrapbook Layout - 2007 Bathroom fun

Keeping in the tradition of only making headings, here's another one. Quite boring....but I was so pleased with welding, I couldn't stop myself.  I also purchased a xyron to shove all these words through....LOVED IT...I think I blasted through the 1st cartridge of stickiness in under a week...other than the cricut/gypsy...the xyron is the best invention!

The cartridge used is Cuttin' Up

Scrapbook Layout - 2007 1st Birthday

I made a 2-part scrapbook for PJ's first year all in blue, brown & yellow paper.  I kept some photos from his 1st birthday to do into a 2007 scrapbook....this is that layout.

The cupcake is from Doodlecharms and I think the heading is from Plantin schoolbook

Royal Visit - July 10, 2011 - Leaving LA

On this last day, they had a reception of some kind.

Reese Witherspoon in red.

They also went to an inner-city youth centre.
Painting
who knew William was a lefty?
Hand-print
Smirking at something
This was a nice outfit - I liked the crochet top.  They were sure looking tired by the time they were off on the plane.

BYE BYE Royals!

Royal Visit - July 9, 2011 - Polo and Party in LA

They had 2 events this day - playing polo (to raise $ for the Prince's charities) and the British Film gala (to raise $ for British film).  I had read that the price to play polo with the future king was $100,000.

I think this is my least favorite dress of the trip.  Don't get me wrong, she looks great, I just don't like the pattern on the fabric.

I found some good photos of William on the horse.

Then he made a speech and they might have even kissed

BUT...wow - the highlight is the dinner party - WOW - she had a fabulous dress!!!  Love the design and the fabric.  Color is a little blah...but she must like this light lavender because she wore it 2x.

There were celebrities there...here are a few:
Hanks, Wilson & Kidman
Tom Hanks & Rita Wilson
Jennifer Lopez
Fabulous dress - apparently her shoes had 5.5 inch heels - makes her pretty tall when she's already 5' 10"

OMG - one of my scrapbook layouts WON a contest

Sounds pretty DARN exciting doesn't it?  I entered a Canada Day contest with this layout:

and I found out today that I won the Paisley cartridge - here are what some of the images look like:

OH...and I won it in a RANDOM DRAW - so its not like it was the best layout...but its fun to pretend...and I DID win this cartridge.  Thanks to Boomer Knows for setting up the Canada Day challenge and providing one of the prizes!

WOO HOO - I never win anything - this was a great thing to wake up to this morning!

Royal Visit - July 8, 2011 - Los Angeles

She made a clothing change on the plane and came out with my favorite outfit of the trip so far.  I'm not overly fond of the color, but the style is very fabulous!

Then she changed, yet again (and the British consulate's house) for the evening reception.  Love the color - I had a suit (or maybe 2) in that color once - loved it.

Royal Visit - July 8, 2011 - Calgary, AB

This is their last day in Canada.  It started with the Calgary Stampede Parade.  It was broadcast across Canada - on TWO channels - which is annoying because it really made PJ angry that his morning shows were interrupted.

They drove down the parade route backwards...and really fast in a car, so all the people lining the streets wouldn't have got a very good look at them.
They started the parade by pushing a button that let off a few fireworks.
Poor William must have only brought 1 country shirt...because I'm pretty darn sure it was the same one from last night - which is fine because I loved it!  Kate had a nice white top on and I heard on the TV later that it was a $600 top!
They only stayed for 1 hr of the parade (apparently, I don't know, I didn't continue to watch...I have NO interest in a c-boy parade).  Then they changed and went to the Calgary zoo for more presentations.  If you are in Calgary - go to the zoo - well worth the visit!
Then off to a final military salute thing and unveiling of a mural depicting all the soldiers that had died in Afghanistan.

Then off to the plane - bye bye pretty lady and nice man (as PJ says).
As much as I HATE red, this is a nice dress - just think how fabulous it would be in blue or green or purple!

Diamond broach of the maple leaf loaned to her by the Queen.  She wore it all day on Canada day.
Off to LA LA land.
