Edm Crop - Sept 29 2012

A few of the circle gals (and others) gathered at a LSS to crop.  I was planning on getting there for 10am, but the large boy caused a drama with the small boy and it meant I had to wait for him to settle down before I could leave - and STILL the poor little guy was very upset and crying because I was leaving - I was NOT amused at all!  Why must I always be left feeling horrible when I get a rare (and I do mean extremely RARE) time away from the routine....each and every time!  I swear, its a guilt trip Every.Single.Time!

Anyway, I digress....once I finally got there, there were no parking stalls - great...but since it was Saturday, we could park in the other business's stalls - PHEW!  After we got the salesclerk to approve moving a table over so I'd have somewhere to work, then we DID start to work on our projects.  Alice (dugspookie), Teresa (ladybugT) and Michelle were already there.  A class was underway in the same room so it was quite loud in there...until they left at 1ish.  We immediately packed up our stuff and MOVED over to where there were larger tables - turned on the music and sat down to work on our projects - YES - we actually worked on projects.

By this time, we were starving, so we got some Wendy's to go and went back to have our lunch.  Just as we were finishing eating, Sherri (sherrihend180) arrived.  Poor thing is working on a conversion of their company's software and had to work that morning - they go live on Monday and I wish her the best of luck - been there, done that 2x and it was HELL (thousands of OT hours before and AFTER go-live date)  I hope she gets paid OT (or time off in lieu)...because I didn't!

I got a couple of layouts done,  Alice was working on her 50 bears, Sherri made a cute card for her DH, Teresa & Michelle whipped off I don't know how many cards and envelopes - work was accomplished by ALL!  AND...I managed to escape being with the enablers with only spending $10 (not including lunch) - so the enabling crew must have had a off-day! ;)

We had some munchies and giggles and it was a great day!

Cricut Circle May Magazine Challenge

This was such a FUN challenge!  I almost forgot to do something until someone posted on the circle message board that all the entries were SO CUTE...and when I went to look at them...they WERE cute!  Thankfully, its a random draw for the winner (who'd will $150 to spend at cricut.com!) because mine is pretty pathetic compared to all of the rest of them - WOW - they all have elaborate backgrounds...I'm not that coordinated or talented.

I did mine this afternoon - I should have been working on treat bags for PJ's end of Kindergarten party...but I did this instead!

Ms. Pink is stylish in a brown dress supplied by Paper Doll Dress-up and accessorized by a Go Canada Leaf whilst roasting a marshmallow (from Campin Critters).  The marshmallow was covered in Liquid Applique.

Mr. Blue is looking dapper in his Mountie Hat and is being uncharacteristically patriotic by waving his country's Flag (both provided by Go Canada).  I wish I had pop-dotted the hat - but it was starting to rain, so I took the photos and ran inside.

All of the items on these two cute cricuts were done on white paper - I colored them all with Copics markers.  I believe the size of everything was 2" - the dress was a bit long, so I had to alter it a wee bit and I think that maybe the hat, might have been 1.5.

What a HOOT that was to do!

Edmonton Circle Crop - Feb 2012

I was able to attend a whole day crop (well, it was more like a 14 hr crop) yesterday with several of the cricut circle girls that I met back in August 2011...plus a couple of other circlets!

I got there around 10:30...because I had to stop for some chips (and a 2nd cup coffee).  When I arrived, Teresa (LadybugT) Linda (CanadianLinda) and Jasmine (a circlet, but doesn't come to the MB) were already there and working.  I was so pleased that I was there...and had a whole 14 hours to do what I wanted and have a break from PJ...that I spent several minutes (or more) sitting still, watching and sighing (and smiling).  Shortly after I arrived, Cheryl (GypsyLady) came in with all her stuff.

We were all pretty intense in sitting and working on our projects - it was almost like no one was there.  Alice (dugspookie) and Sherri (sherrihend180) arrived around 1:30.  The volume in the room increased upon their arrival ;)  Lunch consisted of taco chips, salsa, chocolate, cupcakes and coffee - lunch of champions!  Once everyone was all unpacked and working - we all got intense and quiet again.  We only had 1 drama - poor Teresa was using a vagabond and the darn thing got stuck - somehow Alice was able to get the mat, die and paper out and the machine still worked. Jen (JenniferHawkins2 - aka cruise winner) came with her 3 adorable kids to have a quick visit - it was great to see her too!

We had a fantastic pasta supper and a liquor infused death by chocolate dessert - YUM!  Then we all buckled down again.  Teresa's son's school was having a silent auction, so Alice and Sherri were helping to make items to be auctioned off - it kept everyone focused.

I think everyone made a ton of things during that 14 hour span at the LSS (Scrap-a-Lot) and we all had a great time.  Looking forward to the next gathering...maybe in Calgary!

Happy New Year?

WOW - its been awhile since I was here - between PJ being sick for a week, extra therapy visits, Christmas stuff (decorating, shopping, wrapping, mailing, cards, cleaning, baking....) I didn't have time to come in here (not that I'm normally in here a lot, but whatever).

So, PJ is back to school in 5 more sleeps (not that I'm counting) and I'm hoping to get some scrapbooking done.  By his birthday, I like to have (at least) my scrapbook caught up to his b-day 2 years ago...so I need to get hustling because I'm still in 2009 and I need to be at March 2010 pretty darn quickly.

I also joined in on the "use what you have" challenge in the cricut circle.  It runs until the end of March and you are only allowed to purchase adhesive and cartridges during this time frame.  I have alot of paper and using some of it would be nice.

I would also like to organize the scrapbook area (ha ha).  This is also another challenge in the circle...we shall see how that goes - there are obstacles out of my control.

Circle Christmas/Winter Tag Swap

I'm a glutton for punishment....I signed up for the Christmas card, recipe and now the tag swap.  YIKES - it sure has kept me busy.

I definately not a tag maker and even though I couldn't think of anything else to do, this tag will have to do...since I needed 20 of them and they need to be mailed by Nov 21 (2 days from now).

I used the cricut-imagine snow angel cartridge for the background papers.  The tag itself is from Winter Frolic.  The stocking is from CTMH-Art Philosophy.  Inks for the stocking are from Stampin up (wild wasabi & rose red).  I used a Sizzix embossing folder and added color dots with copic markers.  I put dots of glossy accents on the "dots" on the stocking band and a few dabs of stickles on the foot part of the stocking.  The stocking is popped up too.  Ribbon from Michaels.

Anyway, I hope you (and the swappers) like it.

Red Deer Circle Crop - August 2011

Yesterday I had the privilege to meet eight of my Circle Sisters at a Crop in Red Deer Alberta.  This location was chosen so it was in between most of the potential attendees - its 1/2 way between Edmonton and Calgary.  Hana and Teresa organized us going to Michael's in Red Deer and we were set for fun!

I wanted to get there for the starting whistle, but I left later than I thought and arrived about a hour late.  Once I got there, I was surprised that there were only 4 others there - the girls coming from the south - Hana, Teresa, Lesleyanne & Linda.  I was shocked to find 3 expressions and 1 imagine all setup and ready to be used PLUS about 100 cartridge boxes all lined up...OH MY...these girls brought alot of stuff.

I took a few trips to bring in stuff from the car - only 2 bags for scrapbooking and then 2 bags with edible treats for the group.  Shortly after I arrived, the rest of the girls from the north started to arrive - Jennifer, Sherri and Alice.  They also brought alot of stuff...but not nearly as much as the girls from the south ;) as only Jennifer brought a machine - the E2 for us to oooh and aaahhh over.  More edible treats came with this group.  Alice also brought the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge for us all to oohh and aahh over (and order)!

We finally got settled and we were all chatting and then it was magically lunch time - not alot of actual crafting was done in the morning.  At this point, our 9th girl arrived - Doreen.  She had the furthest to drive and had eaten lunch already, so instead of leaving her alone (since she had just arrived) we took lunch breaks in shifts.  By the time everyone had a chance to get lunch and eat it, it was time for door prizes.  Each girl went up in turn to pick a prize from all the wonderful giveaways everyone brought to share with each other.  There were lots of things to choose from, a magazine, little bags filled with various supplies, a cartridge, and on and on - everyone was very generous with what they brought to share with each other.  I lucked out and in my little bag, there were several stamps - OH MY - I think I made off like a bandit!  Here are the giveaways:

So...its now pushing 3:30 pm and we all wanted to make a quick trip to the LSS - it was only just down the block but I decided to jump in with Alice in her vehicle in case I made a heavy purchase!  The other girls walked because it was such a lovely, sunny day.  When they arrived, they described how they had to walk through some mud and they all agreed that they would ride back with Alice and I.....ha ha....those with sandals had slightly muddy feet.  We had varying degrees of luck in finding things to purchase.

Late in the week we decided to make calling cards for each other and several of us had to make them AT THIS crop...ha ha.  Here we are with our calling cards:

The day went so quickly, I couldn't believe it when it was 8pm and time to clean-up.  My out-put was only to make 4 flowers and adhere paper onto chipboard for an album I'm making Hilary for Christmas - oh, I guess I glued in 2 pages of titles into this album too.  One thing I noticed is that these ladies are really REALLY talented!  Mixing paper and cuts and inking everything...and the copic collection between them was flabbergasting to say the least...well, it was to me, I'd only seen a few of them at Michael's so to see a few hundred of them all in one place was bizarre.

Poor Hana had about a million suitcases to fill with all her cartridges and inks and copics and and and and - oh my...she had more stuff at this event then I have in my scrapbook area and my friends think I have alot of stuff...nope, not me, I now officially know that I have very little stuff.  It was funny that the 3 girls that had brought the most stuff...came in the same vehicle.  I was impressed that they got it all in Lesleyanne's SUV!

Then we all got on the road for our 2-ish hour drive home.  What a fantastic day - it was so great to put faces to names of the people that we talk to every day on the circle message board.  Everyone was so friendly and easy to talk with that it felt like we had known each other for years.

Thanks ladies, for a fabulous day - I hope when we plan another one, that I'll be able to attend it too!
