STUPID February
Its THAT time of the year again.
Today is the 11th anniversary of my 1st miscarriage and even though last year, it was the 1st year I didn't think about it other than after the fact thinking that I made it through without being depressed or really thinking about it.
This year I actually started thinking about it earlier in the week and even though I wasn't as depressed as I was before when I would think about it, I did have a depressed weekend. It revolves around hoarding and all the crap in the house and the fact that PJ is starting to show similar hoarding tendencies and we are already drowning in crap. I've been angry and feeling unappreciated & insignificant all weekend long.
Feb 16 is the 5th anniversary of PJ's ASD dx and the hoarding issues above are part and parcel of this dx.
February can bugger off now.

I hate mid-February
I was never a Valentine's day fan...must have been all those years without a significant other.
To make the day worse, it is the yearly reminder of my 1st miscarriage - it is NINE years (nine...wow) since I started to feel not right and was thankful that GJA had his band class that night so we wouldn't have to go out for supper on Valentines Day to celebrate the day.
So, even though the actual miscarriage happened on Feb 15, I KNOW that the process had started on Feb 14, hence why my hating of the middle of February starts on Valentine's day.

8 things about me you probably didn't know
On Facebook, a friend posted 8 things about herself that we probably didn't know and challenged us all to do the same...so I thought Id also post it in here.
1. My 1st love was our 1st cat, Hobo. Santa brought him to our house Christmas eve when I was 6 & it made me believe in Santa longer because I "knew" that my father would never bring home a kitten (or cat) and since my mother couldn't drive, there was no other explanation of how the kitten got there other than from Santa. I miss having a cat around.
2. My #1 favourite movie is The Sound of Music I went to it for the 1st time when I was in grade 4 and it was my 1st field trip. I also really enjoyed going to the Sing-A-Long version and saw it live in Toronto & I'm looking forward to the live tv-version of it on NBC early this December!
3. Traveled, a wee bit ... Australia, Cook Islands, Bali, Japan, Greece, London, Mexico, Several places on 2 separate bus tours of Europe , Several places in US & Canada. I really REALLY miss travelling!
4. I don't eat fish (and yes, that includes anything that lives in and around the water...shrimp, lobster, oysters, clams, octopus....its all disgusting).
5. Took organ lessons starting in Grade 2 and continued until I started some after-school part-time teaching organ beginning when I was in Grade 8. Also play the clarinet and took saxophone lessons.
6. I can NOT ride a bike
7. Love snorkeling but I'm way too afraid to scuba dive.
8. I used to be able to type at 110 WPM (maybe more, can't remember - its been awhile & I'm not that fast now).

The days I hate just passed
Friday was the anniversary of 1 of my miscarriages. This baby would have been turning 8 this coming September. Even though I had been thinking about it all month like I always do, this was the 1st year where I wasn't depressed. I'm not sure why, maybe too busy to dwell on it?
I still wish, all the time, that this baby had been ok.
__
__
Saturday was the 2nd anniversary of finding out that PJ has Autism. He has changed so much in these 2 years, but he still struggles and I hope that he keeps improving.
The 2 days I dread the most in February are gone and I managed to not be too sad in February, for the 1st time in 8 years, finally.

Another day in February that I don't like
So, as mentioned in my prior post - Feb 15 sucks because its the anniversary of a miscarriage. Now, I have another anniversary - Feb 16 - its been 1 year since PJ's diagnosis. Hard to believe 1 year has past and still hard to believe we're trying to deal with this dx (and the fact that he HAS this dx).
February can end at any time.
Thankfully, DH is giving me a day (this coming Saturday) to spend with my new circle friends at a local LSS to scrapbook the entire day 10 to midnight! Its given me something to look forward to after this week and something to organize and get ready for (rather than sit and think about my 2 most 'favorite' days in Feb). I've been so busy, in fact, that I almost forgot both of these days....but something always twigs in my subconscious and then out of the blue, I remember.
That DAY just passed again
I hate Valentines Day - and its not because I had a crappy day or have had several crappy Valentine's Days.
It always signifies the beginning of a miscarriage. I was feeling crappy on Valentine's day evening and just took it easy while GJA was at his band class. We were going to go out for Valentine's supper on Feb 15 because he couldn't miss his rehearsal. I felt like there was something up, but didn't know what. I had a horrible dream that night about the baby and felt crappy all day at work on Feb 15. While we were having supper, I was having contractions, but didn't really know that's what it was until we were in the ER later that night.
So, if that baby had survived, he/she would be turning 7 in September. Just on Feb 13, PJ kept talking about his sister...and I know its silly, but I wonder if he saw her spirit. I asked him what the sister's name was...he said he didn't know but that it was a baby. They say that children often are more in-tune with that kind of stuff and I've heard that kids with autism may be more in-tune with it too. So...never say never, I guess.
Anyway, I'm thinking of this wee angel baby.

Spoiled
I was spoiled for my birthday this year.
DH brought home a large bouquet of flowers (the house smells yummy) on Thursday. Then there were other gifts - the next Desperate Housewives DVD, Birks diamond earrings to go with the necklace he gave me for our 10 yr anniversary (Cdns will know....Birks is like Tiffany's), and an i-pod touch! Here's a photo of the earrings...
I guess he didn't want to give me want I really wanted...the basement cleaned out so I could have a scrapbooking area! HA HA

Be AFRAID - Its Friday the 13th AND.....
Yup, its back. I have another
birthday - crap.
Yes, its on Friday the 13th and I'm not expecting bad luck today...because, well, my birthday lands on a Friday occasionally - so I'm not superstitious about it. My parents were married on the 13th (of October) and they're doing fine in their 50th year.

Anyway, back to birthdays - Can't say it was the best year - but it wasn't the worst.
Might
be the 1st birthday that I can remember that it won't be -20C or worse,
so that's nice. I get to go to a hockey game tonight, which means I
don't have to cook or eat leftovers, but it probably means cold pizza
for supper. I do, however, get to meet up with my 2 closest friends for
a drink after the game! That will be fun. We haven't gone out to
celebrate (or acknowledge) my birthday since 2006 - and I was VERY
pregnant at the time - but the food and company was fantastic.
Getting old sucks.

Bye Bye Christmas
I got all the decorations from the main floor done and packed away plus the ornaments from the tree. I just have to do the lights and the tree itself....which require DH to be around for since I can't reach either of these boxes (stuff on top of them is too heavy for me to move).
One thing about Christmas IS done now...I finally finished, just a few minutes ago, the last of my 1250 Christmas songs on my ipod. Last year it took me until the end of April - so I'm pretty impressed that I'm done here in the middle of January. I started in September (not a lot) and missed a bunch of time in December due to running around shopping and decorating and wrapping gifts etc. BUT these first 2 weeks of January I've been focused on sorting through my scrapbook stuff and working on scrapbooking (planning) and it meant a lot of time with my ipod going with minimal interruption.
It really shouldn't take that long to go through, there's only 2.7 days of music.
SO...I'll be back to 80's music...or maybe I'll get back to my Melrose Place marathon - who knows.

Christmas
Well - Christmas has come and gone. It wasn't as stressful/annoying this year...not sure, maybe I've become more tolerant of annoying relatives over the past year, I don't know.
I typically upload some photos in here about our Christmas...and I plan to do so...I just need time to upload photos - and this computer is being really annoying about allowing me to crop/alter photos, so I've been putting it off. I WILL do an upload, who knows when...maybe when PJ is back in school...oh, wait, I'm supposed to be cleaning my scrapbook room and catching up on my scrapbooking....hmmmm.

Happy New Year?
WOW - its been awhile since I was here - between PJ being sick for a week, extra therapy visits, Christmas stuff (decorating, shopping, wrapping, mailing, cards, cleaning, baking....) I didn't have time to come in here (not that I'm normally in here a lot, but whatever).
So, PJ is back to school in 5 more sleeps (not that I'm counting) and I'm hoping to get some scrapbooking done. By his birthday, I like to have (at least) my scrapbook caught up to his b-day 2 years ago...so I need to get hustling because I'm still in 2009 and I need to be at March 2010 pretty darn quickly.
I also joined in on the "use what you have" challenge in the cricut circle. It runs until the end of March and you are only allowed to purchase adhesive and cartridges during this time frame. I have alot of paper and using some of it would be nice.
I would also like to organize the scrapbook area (ha ha). This is also another challenge in the circle...we shall see how that goes - there are obstacles out of my control.

I've been married HOW many years?
Today is our 10th wedding anniversary - seems crazy that I'd be married at all, let alone for 10 years. Where has the time gone, where did all these extra pounds and wrinkles come from...oh my!
10 years isn't alot and at our age, we should be further along than 10 years...but it is what it is!
Happy Anniversary Honey!

Would you miss your pinkie toe?
Yet another post about breaking toes - unbelievable. This time its a pinkie toe. I decided it would be a fantastic idea to try to separate my pinkie toe from the rest of the toes by ramming it around a heavy box. I've been limping around ever since it happened at about 7 am this morning and only looked at it now (2:30 pm) and its really purple - no wonder why it hurts.
I guess I've never been a fan of toes since I always seem to be banging them into things and then hobbling around with purple toes for weeks and weeks.
How do you like my sandal tan lines? hee hee
Edited to show the color I was greeted with this morning - good times!

Yet another sinus infection
Back in November 2010, I had a post about my longest illness. Well, this current one isn't longer than that one...since I was sick for over a month before I went to the DR. This time, its been 2 weeks and it has the same feeling as back in November. Can't sleep, can't move my head, can't chew or swallow, can't hear - just pain and more pain in my head, behind eyes, my cheek-bones and jaw, my ears and this morning my glands were swollen in my neck - oh yes, and I'm congested and can't breath - SO, I had to bite the bullet and go to the DR.
Everyone was telling me that antibiotics don't do anything - well, I'd like to give them a chance because I can't function like this with PJ running around the house all day. I can barely keep my head upright...how do I watch him? Take sleeping pills, a couple of Tylenol, a decongestant and have a good night sleep and you'll feel better in the morning...ah...I've been doing that (and higher dosages...except not sleeping pills...none of those) for 2 weeks....the medication gives no relief whatsoever - because its not a cold anymore.
On this past Sunday, I thought I had a migraine, but it was this darn infection. I slept most of that day (well, tried to sleep)...but now that felt like a picnic compared to the pain today. I've taken the evil antibiotics and I hope they work quickly (like I wanted some relief after 10 minutes of taking it)....but alas...4 hrs later...still waiting.
I'm going to do all the advice everyone gave me - saline spray, chicken soup, OJ on and on...but I'm still going to take these antibiotics...we're hoping to go on a flight somewhere and I can't do that if my sinuses are this infected.
This sinus infection has GOT TO GO!
