Week 11 - Non-Alpha stickers and rub-ons

I know, I know, I promised to do this organization thing today...and I am...see below.  I almost decided to not do it because PJ and I have both had the stomach flu for the past few days and I'm still not feeling well (he, on the other hand is jumping around just fine).

SO, this week is similar to the last one...hmmm.  Anyway...the original post is HERE.

She talks about purging some of your stickers/rub ons...so, if you find stickers from back when stickers first came out for scrapbooking (you know the ones...the Sandy Lion ones that seemed so amazing at the time...until Joelee's etal showed up) you probably won't ever use them (we all want the NEW thing...right)...so give them away or let your kids play with them...but get them OUT!

Organize them by type or manufacturer.  I only have a few stickers and they are all for kids and I have them all in 2 boxes...and they are both unused pizza boxes...so basically, I have nothing to do with this item either.  PHEW!

Dreaming....

I've been crazy busy with autism conferences and accounting classes and PJ's birthday party and and and...that I think I've missed a week or 2 of the clean-up stuff...I'll get back on track next Monday.

Anyway, in the circle, someone posted a little 1/2 written story and we could fill in the blanks...here's mine...I wish it wasn't a story though.

Once upon a time there was a Circlet... this is what the Circlet said.....

Walking along a wooded side road, I see a cabin ahead. I approach the cabin and on the rocking chair by the door I spot a key that looks like it fits the door lock.  I unlock and open the door slowly and see the scrapbooking cabin of my dreams.  It was warm and cozy with the fire dancing in fireplace.  There was 80's music playing and it smelled like freshly baked bread.  There was a massive table setup with 3 comfy chairs, the perfect height to work on scrapbooks at the large table. On a smaller table there were some snacks and a beautiful bouquet of stargazer lilies. Standing in the kitchen was a hunky man ready to make meals, bring snacks and provide liquid refreshments.

In the cabin by a window there is a window seat chest.  Walking over to the chest, I slowly open it and find all my photos, memorabilia and even my gypsy - even my friends' scrapbooking gear was there.

I suddenly hear a noise coming from the outside and quickly close the chest.  My scrapbooking friends enter the cabin and say how did you get to the cabin before us, we were in the same car?

Laughing, I leave the cabin along with my buddies to get our suitcases from the car and think to myself gee, we should do this scrapbooking retreat every month, its going to be fantastic!  Just then, the hunky man runs out of the cabin with drinks on a tray and sends us back into the cabin with drinks as he goes to fetch our luggage

Week 10 - Alphas

This challenge is about organizing anything that's letters/alphas - and the original post is here.

She talks about the different types (rub-ons, stickers etc).  You can organize by type or by color..she has a bunch of links for ideas on how to store them.

I don't have any of these things because I use my cricut for all lettering.

Scrapbook Layout - 2009 Snowpants & I love you

I had a few photos of PJ in his snowpants (1st time I got him in them without a fight) but there wasn't alot of photos and nothing really to go on the facing page.  I also had this cute photo of PJ pointing at the camera that I love - so I just did these 2 layouts on the same paper and force them to be a 2-page spread-ish

Cartridges used on the 1st page are: Boys will be Boys for "I can wear"; Billionaire for "snowpants"; Paper Trimmings for the square background and frame.

Cartridges used on the 2nd page are:  Paper Lace for "I love you"; Lyrical letters for the heart; Sesame Street Season for Bert; Elegant Edges for the frame; Ribbons & Rosettes for the rosette

AND...its all made with my STASH! WOO HOO!

The best part is that they are BLUE - I just can't get enough BLUE!

Scrapbook Layout - 2009 Merry & Bright

Here's a layout that was done completely with my stash!  WOO HOO!

This is from 2009 Christmas - day at our house (1st page) and then dinner at my parent's place (2nd page).  Its pretty basic since I took a lot of photos that year....that and I needed to cover as much of the red poinsettias as possible (I'm not a fan of red).  OOPS - I just noticed that I haven't got journaling on the 2nd page.

The "Merry & Bright" and the "A Very Merry Christmas" are both from Winter Frolic

Week 9 - Embelishments

Hmm...I need a way to have my embellishments out so that I remember to use them...but I don't have room...hmmm.

She starts with - how do you want to organize them - color or type?  I think I'm both - I want each type organized by color...but maybe I AM more of a color person...hmmm....I'll have to think about that because I currently have them by type then color....maybe that's why I'm not using them that much?  Wait...I actually have them by color (except buttons - which are so plentiful, that they are together because there isn't room in each "color" box to include the amount of buttons of that color.  GEE...I better go and look how I have them - when I bought all the white photo boxes, I filled them up with embellishments...so I better check it out - and label the boxes - I can see that there are 4-5 white boxes that have no label - bad girl!

She has a ton of links of embellishment storage ideas.  Every and any kind of embellishments you can imagine, she has organized and the photos indicate that she might as well open a LSS in her house!

Happy 102nd Birthday!

Happy Birthday to my grandmother - who would have been 102 today.  She was the happiest and silliest person I have ever known (so far) and even though she lived until she was 97 (and still living in her house and running circles around use mentally) I still wish I would have had more time with her.

She lived in another province, so we were lucky if we got to see her 1x a year.  When we were kids, and when she still traveled, we'd see her 2x a year - and they were the best times of those years, by far!  I'm so glad we took the road trip in July 2006 to visit her and introduce her to her youngest grandson because she passed away in May 2007.

I miss you, Granny!  Happy Birthday!

Week 8 - Projects, incomplete pages and kits

Hmmm...I have a bunch of incomplete pages, this could be informative.

So, the just of it is...is this is a method to help you complete these incomplete projects/pages and use these kits.  She is following the method set by Stacy Julian.  You put all of these in individual holders (page protectors or baggies or whatever) - label them all however you want (easiest is numerically).  Then get popsicle sticks and assign the same label to each of the sticks.  THEN when you have time to work on a project, grab a popsicle stick out of the pile and go find that unfinished project/page or kit and use it.

Its basically a Honey Do jar!

SO...I don't have kits (thank goodness) but I do have unfinished pages (usually to do the journaling or add an embelishment).  I keep them in a craft keeper and whenever I'm going to attend a crop or have friends over to scrapbook, I pull that out, see what's left to be done...gather whatever I need to finish the page.  If I do have what I need, then when I get to the crop, its the 1st thing I do before I can start anything new.

HA HA...I've got this task under control for my scrapbooking.  Cleaning out the scrapbook ROOM or other household tasks, however, are a disaster.
