Here's another one done 100% with my stash.
We have a small and pathetic zoo in town....but you have to use what you have, right? So, we took PJ to it to look around. Of course, all the animals were sleeping except the Lemurs...but they are the fun ones, so that's ok.
Its no longer called Storyland Valley Zoo - but that's what it was when I was a kid so that's what I call it still. It was fantastic - there were tons of displays from all the nursery Rhymes and two great trains that went through the whole zoo and even though a fake mountain (which seemed real to us wee kids). The front entrance had a castle tower look to it. We soon discovered after we got inside that they've taken most of the Storyland stuff down - BOO HOO - I remember looking and playing around the 3 little pig's houses...but they were gone. If you go now, its ALL gone. It does, however, still have beautiful landscaping and trees. The enclosures for the animals are disgusting - but they are changing them and its going to be more of an Acrtic/Winter type of zoo - but that will take several years to complete.

Anyway, here's the layout. I used Storybook for the title's font and Nursery Rhyme for the embellishments. I love the Cat and the Fiddle because its like the phone booth at the zoo (and what GJA is pretending to play). I really enjoyed making these little embellishments even though I had to make my own layers since the cartridge is pretty plain (and lacks layers).

Cute LO. Well done on the layers. I have fond memories of places that nolonger exist and had one day hoped to take my children too. Hopefully, while it isn't the same zoo that you remember from childhood they will make changes for the better. :)

ReplyDeleteI suspect we'll lose our Elephant, zebra and other animals that don't normally live in our very cold climate.
I remember there was "Bedrock City" somewhere in BC when we were kids. I'm sure its gone now.
